What is schema markup?
Schema markup is structured data that describes a page in a machine-readable format. JSON-LD is Google's preferred way to add it because it keeps the data separate from the visible page content and is straightforward to maintain.
Choose the type that accurately describes the page, fill in real information, and place the generated script in the document head or body. Structured data can make a page eligible for enhanced search features, but it does not guarantee a rich result or higher rankings.
Validate before publishing
- Make sure every property matches visible, up-to-date content.
- Use a specific type instead of adding markup that does not fit the page.
- Test the output with Google's Rich Results Test and Schema Markup Validator.
- Review product price, availability, ratings, and dates regularly.
